It is somewhat first instinct to most think that leaders are born- that it's natural ability. Others will argue that leaders are made- that life experiences and knowledge better prepapres one to lead, direct and inspire. Maybe one is born a leader, but it take life experiences and knowledge to become EFFECTIVE as a leader. Colin Powell, former U.S.Secretary of State, believes that "effective leaders are made, not born... they learn from trial and error, and experience; when something fails, a true leader learns from the experience and puts its behind him." What is the difference between a manager and a leader? How does this statement apply differentely to the role of a manager and that of a leader?
