Focusing on one topic covered in the unit which you believe was critical to your deyelopment Aearning, write a 1000-word critical reflection on the topic, explaining the ways in which the content was significant in terms of your learning and development as a social work student and your future role as a social work professional.

Your reflective must address the following:
An introduction and summary of your chosen topic

• An explanation and critical reflection on your initial position in relation to the topic i.e., your initial understanding, knowledge/competency in relation to the issue - including evidence of an understanding of own social location and the ways in which this informs your initial position

• A description of the ways in which the topic was significant in terms of your learning and development as a social work student

• How critical reflection and engagement with the conteni has enabled you to advance from your Initial position and developed your knowledge/understanding

• Details of the ways in which the process of critical reflection has enabled you to develop in terms of knowledge/understanding of the social work task and enable you to acquire a new position in terms of competency/understanding in this area of practice

• Reflect on what you learned about: o a) social work as a profession - i.e., practice, ethics, theory o b) yourself as an emerging practitioner o c) how this event/experience will inform your approach to social work practice

For this assessment, choose ONE topic covered in this unit that was significant to your learning and development as a social work student. This is a critical reflection, not just a description or summary of the topic. Your paper should demonstrate how your understanding has changed and how this learning will influence your future social work practice.

Your reflection should address:

Introduction: Briefly introduce and summarise your chosen topic and explain why it is important to social work.

Your initial position: What did you know, believe or understand about the topic before? Consider how your social location, experiences, knowledge and assumptions influenced your initial position.

Your learning: What did you learn from the unit, readings, theories, discussions or activities? What challenged or expanded your previous understanding?

Critical reflection: How did engaging critically with the topic change your thinking? What assumptions did you question or reconsider?

Your new position: What do you understand differently now? How has your knowledge or competency developed?

Social work learning: What did you learn about social work practice, ethics and responsibility, and theory?

Learning about yourself: What did you learn about yourself as an emerging social work practitioner?

Future practice: How will this new understanding influence the way you approach social work practice in the future?

Think of your reflection as a learning journey:

Initial understanding → New learning → Critical reflection → Changed understanding → Future social work practice

Remember to support your reflection and analysis with at least 10 academic references. The focus should be on demonstrating how and why your thinking developed, rather than simply explaining the topic.
