Your task
You are required to conduct exploratory research and analysis of one service consumer trend and present your findings as an infographic - a visually compelling representation of information, data, or knowledge that simplifies complex concepts and enhances understanding through graphics and visual elements.
Assessment Description
This assessment aims to foster students' ability to predict future conflicts in service-based industries' macro and micro environments. In doing so, students will practice planning responses to contemporary consumer attitudes and service experience trends that justify the most effective characteristics of service-based industries and the service economy.
Assessment Instructions
This assessment requires students to independently analyse a "consumer trend" and provide an exploratory evaluation of "the environmental conflict that may arise because of this trend".
To help you start this assessment, please consider using available resources and tools. The following platforms can assist you in preparing your infographic: Canva or Piktochart. You can use any other online platform to develop an aesthetic and informative infographic.
Please select a unique, relevant, post-pandemic service consumer trend prevailing in Australia. The class content has covered several consumer trends that serve as examples. These trends can be further unpacked and explained in this assessment. You have an unlimited range of consumer trends to select from. Select wisely, as your choice of the trend will provide the foundation of your assessment.
In designing the outline of your infographic, consider the following questions:
Research and analyse consumer attitudes and service experience trends and explain them in depth. Remember, you can use images and figures to explain these trends further.
Once you have explained them, provide an example of this trend and its correlation or practice in a service-industry setting.
Select a specific service provider. One example is enough, but you must truly highlight the presence of the trend with this service provider.
Evaluate one (1) micro or macro environment conflict and use resources to consolidate this environment's inclusions in full.
Link the service consumer trend with the environmental factor and explain the connectivity and importance of both.
The best approach for this assessment is to follow the following structure:
Explain service consumer trend
Provide an industry-specific example
Unpack micro or macro environment factors
Explain how this environment impacts the trend
Each infographic section should be represented with clarity and supportive sources to validate the service consumer trend, the service industry example, and the environment.
The infographic should not be longer than 2 A4 pages. We suggest each section is covered and unpacked in half a page. This way, the overview of information will be balanced. However, this serves as advice only. You can provide a unique structure to your infographic.
Ensure that your submission is informative and eye-catching. Your ability to convey the information will be assessed. You may also include an appendices section after the infographic to justify and support your research.
As the infographic will represent your research, you are required to use at least 10 sources of information. These can be submitted as page #3, or alternatively, you can add the references below the infographic image or text with an indication of the reference. Wikipedia and other ‘popular' sites are not to be used.
