Net Wineis a start-up company planning to sell wine over the internet. You have beenengaged as a consultant to help them manage the outsourcing of their fulfilment functions. Final delivery by parcel carriers is out of scope but the remaining processes are as explained in the case material (see case pack).
Question 1. What reasons would NetWine have for outsourcing the eFulfilment centre and what risks are involved for the 3PL?.
Question 2. Develop a tender evaluation framework for Net Wine by which to evaluate individual 3PL company responses. Consider at least how you would evaluate the elements of
• Operational
• Financial
• Service
• ....................,
and suggest a specific set of evaluation criteria for each area.
Where possible you should identify specific units of measure being sought from the 3PLs. For this assessment you are not required to provide a detailed set of weightings for each descriptor but you should explain your scaling/scoring methodology.
Question 3. Develop a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) which will enable Net Wine to measure and manage the performance of the 3PL once the contract is awarded. Be particularly careful to select KPIs that are specific to the scope of the contract, i.e. under the control of the contractor. You should explain and support your choice of KPIs and the reporting structure you recommend.
You are expected to write a concise and a structured report with appropriate supporting references if relevant.
