Mastering Chemistry (A website by the textbook maker) has this sameproblem (except the amount of Deuterium is 2.40*10^21 instead of2.50...) They are showing the correct answer as 26.8g ofnaturally occurring Hydrogen gas that must be processed in order toproduce that amount of deuterium. This is half of what your solution provides, as well as what I keep getting for an answer.
Question:Deuterium, 2H (2.0140 u), is sometimes used toreplace the principal hydrogen isotope 1H in chemical studies. The percent natural abundance of deuterium is 0.015%.If it can be done with 100% efficiency, what mass of naturally occurring hydrogen gas would have to be processed to obtain asample containing 2.40×1021 2H atoms?
A scientist measures the standard enthalpy change for the following reaction to be -1053.4 kJ : 2H2S(g) + 3 O2(g) 2H2O(g) + 2 SO2(g) Based on this value and the standard enthalpies of formation for the other substances, the standard enthalpy of fo..
Carbon-14 dating can be used to estimate the age of formerly living materials because the uptake of carbon-14 from carbon dioxide in the atmosphere stops once the organism dies
A catalyst introduces an extra step into the reaction and reduces Ea for the first step to 50kJ/mol. Indicate the effect of this catalyst on your diagram. How would you expect the equilibrium constant for this reaction to vary with temperature
Use the Rydberg equation (1 / wavelength = (1/n(smallest)^2 - 1/n(largest)^2) to calculate the wavelength of this transition in nanometers (nm) and to three significant figures.
A spring loaded piston cylinder device is initially filled with 0.2 lbm of an R-134a liquid vapor mixture whose temperature is -30 deg F and whose quality is 80 percent. The spring constant in the spring force relation F=kx is 37 lbf/in
if the initial concentration of ab is 0.230 m and the reaction mixture initially contains no products what are the
In a reaction of copper with nitric acid, if 4.00 g of copper is used, how much copper nitrate will be produced
Indicate whether the potassium acetate salt, CH3CO2K is (A) acidic, (B) basic, (N) neutral
The precipitate was filtered, dried, and weighed. A total of 1.55 g calcium flouride was collected. What was the percentage of CsF in the original sample.
Potash is composed mainly of potassium caronate, K2CO3. If 1.000g of potash reacts with sulfuric acid to produce 145 mL of carbon dioxide gas at STP, what is the % of potassium carbonate in the marble sample
Aluminum will act as the stronger reducing agent and iron will act as the stronger oxidant. In the spontaneous reaction, the oxidation number of iron will increase.
