Part 1
For this portion of the activity, use the software you downloaded in a previous module to determine your computer specifications. Use the Speccy (CCleaner). software if you have a PC and Mactracker. if you have a Macintosh.
You can use other software, or you may manually look for the items within the Control Panel area as long as you are able to report what is required. Feel free to show the Speccy report, etc. in your response but be sure to verbally state the specifications.
Determine your computer specifications for the following:
Manufacturer and model
CPU: number of cores & speed in GHz
RAM: the amount in GB
Graphics: monitor resolution
Hard drive: note the type (HDD or SDD), capacity, and amount of free space remaining
Part 2
Think about your next computer purchase and how much money you would be willing to spend. Keep that number in mind.
Next, on a sheet of paper, write out a few notes that help you to define what type of computer you would like to have in the future. Be sure to make note of the key features, capabilities, and specifications you anticipate needing based on your user profile.
Next, locate and review a computer buyer's guide that discusses computers with such features, be it a laptop or desktop. This may be a site such as one of these below or another you select.
The Best Desktop Computers for 2023 (PCMag).
Laptop Buying Guide (Laptop Mag).
Desktop Computer Buying Guide (Consumer Reports).
Now visit a computer vendor's website, such as Digital Storm,. Dell,. Apple,. or any other site you choose. Use the site to select a computer based on your defined requirements and budget. Or perhaps use a build-your-own-computer site for this, such as Custom PC Builder (Micro Center).. While configuring the computer, make note of any feature that you elected to compromise on due to cost or other reasons. For example, did you go with 8 GB RAM instead of 16 GB to save money?
