We have an environmental chemistry class....we are presently discussing coagulants and flocculants.

We are asked to write the balanced equation when glucose is reacted with ammonium chloride + epichlorohydrin + isopropyl alcohol.

Therefore, I have the equation: C6H12O6 + NH4Cl + + CH3ClO

1) Does this equation need a simple alcohol like IPA or a base like NaOH to catalyze the reaction?
1) What is the ultimate end product? Hopefully it is supposed to be some form of a quaternary ammonium radical (tri-methyl) attached to a glucose????
2) How on earth would you balance this equation?
3) What does the final chemical/molecular structure look like --- we are asked to draw the simple stick diagram for this final molecule?
