The probability that a butterfly is tagged in the northern part of North America as it begins migrating south is 0.76. At the southern end of the migration, the probability that was tagged in the north is recaptured is 0.72. The probability that an untagged monarch is captured in the south is 0.43. The probability that a Monarch that was originally tagged in the north and was then recaptured in the south is infected with O. elektroschirrha bacteria is 0.91. The probability that a monarch that was captured in the south but not in the north is infected is 0.61. The probability that a monarch that was captured in the north but not in the south is infected is 0.03. The probability that a monarch that was not captured is infected is estimated to be 0.08.
