Experiment: 2DoF Forced Response Dynamics

Aim -

The aim of the experiment is to determine the natural frequencies of a beam mounted on two springs, which may be considered as a system with two degrees of freedom.

Experimental Setup -

The equipment to be used to carry out this experiment is shown in the diagram below.

Experimental Procedure -

For a range of frequencies (6 to 15 Hz with the step 1/2 Hz), measure using the CRO:

  • A1, A2, A3 and F0- amplitudes of system response in points 1, 2, and 3, and amplitude of input force respectively; Plot frequency response function for three points. Determine the 2 natural frequencies.

Calculation -

Determine the 2 natural frequencies.
