A 2-m by square footing is located 1.5 m below the ground surface, as shown Figure

1. The groundwater table is located 2.5 m below the ground level. The subsoil consist of a uniform deposit of a uniform deposit of sand with Υ = 16 kN/m3

Υsat = 18.5 N/m3 a, c' = 0 and Φ = 38o.

Determine the allowable load to be imposed on this foundation:

a) Using Meyerhof's method.

b) Using Terzaghi's method by considering General Shear Failure mode.

c) Using Terzadn's method by considering Local Shear Failure mode.
