Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive technique used to stimulate regions of the human brain. A small coil is placed on the scalp, and a brief burst of current in the coil produces a rapidly changing magnetic field inside the brain. The induced emf can be sufficient to stimulate neuronal activity. One such device generates a magnetic field within the brain that rises from zero to 1.2 T in 100 ms. Determine the induced emf within a circle of tissue of radius 1.2 mm and that is perpendicular to the direction of the field.
E valuate primary and secondary succession. Explain each type of succession thoroughly and give specific examples of everytype.
Based on this value, about what proportion of her own body weight in phytoplankton will a 60 kg woman require eating over the course of a year, if this were her only source of energy.
Codons with U or C as the second nucleotide, for example, tend to specify hydrophobic amino acids. Can you recommend a possible explanation for this phenomenon in terms of the early evolution of the protein synthesis machinery?
Discuss and explain how you would calculate delta G for the reaction: glucose+6O2---> 6CO2+6H2O. If you were told that this reaction is highly exergonic.
Suppose that you are conducting an experiment to determine the optimal best amount of fertilizer on tomato plants. You apply 0, 5, 10, 15, or 20 grams of fertilizer per plant.
How does the net amount of energy released during the breakdown of sucrose compare between spontaneous reactions and catalyzed by sucrase.
We have 2-eyes and 2-ears, yet we can see and hear very-well with only one. So, why do we have two? We have studied how having two eyes.
5-different mutations were derived from base pair substitutions at a single codon. In this codon, the mutant alleles had arginine, leucine.
Illustrate the texture and arrangement of the lungs of the cat. If you were asked to create a karyotype from the chromosome spreads you made from HeLa cells, list materials you could use and describe how you would create the karyotype.
Assume you observe a populatin with 4150 zygotes with the genotype AA, 800 zygotes witht he genotypes Aa, and fifty zygotes with the genotype aa.
2-cells vary in the amount of energy they need. One cell, a muscle cell, must generate large supplies of ATP. The other cell, a skin cell, requires very little ATP.
The very simple genotype phenotype relationship of dominance, codominance and recessiveness has been complicated by issues of penetrance and epistatsis.
