Determine the appropriate hypothesis test(s) to be used in four research projects described below. In selecting the appropriate test(s), you should describe the test selection procedure, considering the following:

- Null hypothesis (H0) and alternative hypothesis/hypotheses (HA)

- Measurement scale/data type: nominal, ordinal, interval or ratio

- Sample description

  • Number of samples: 1, 2, or 3 or more
  • If samples are independent or related

- Hypothesis test(s) to be used

Describe any other issues/assumptions that should be considered. In some cases, more than one test may apply.

Q1. Five thousand randomly-selected MBA graduates were surveyed to determine their future plans. The survey response rate was 10%. The graduates' future plans were grouped into four categories for each of three majors, as shown in the following table:
