1) Determine the amount of energy (Joules) and the power (Watts) required drilling a hole of 0.2 (5.08 mm) inches in diameter in a Titanium sheet 0.2 (5.08 mm) inches thick.

2) Determine the volume of metal removed in an iron sheet if the power required for drilling the hole is 109 Watts. Ambient Temperature is 20 degrees Celsius. Show all calculations and do not use the numbers for specific energy given in table -IV-2

Density of Titanium = 4.50 g/cm3

Density of Iron = 7.874 g/cm3

Pulse duration in all cases = 10-5 sec

1 calorie = 4.184 joules, 1 inch = 25.4 mm, 1 Watt = 1 Joule/sec.
