A steel rod that is 40 mm long and has a diameter of 8 mm is composed of an alloy that yields plastically at a uniaxial tensile stress of 450 MPa. One end of the bar has been twisted relative to the other by 1.5°. Determine the amount by which the bar can be elongated, while it is already twisted, without yielding.
