Develop Complex Cascading Style Sheets - Project Assignment
Assessment Task 1 -
Assessment Summary - This assessment requires the learner to develop a Cascading Style Sheet document and test it in all major browsers.
Case Study: Latoya Consultancy sells electronic items such as Laptops, phones and tablets, as well as provides consultancy services such as repairs and installation. The company would like to display the following on their webpage:
- Home page: Introduction to the company.
- Products: List of hardware and software.
- Contact: Address and contact number of the company.
The web developers have completed the web pages. Your task is to create one cascading style sheet file so that it complies with the style specified by the user.
Based from the case study, perform the assessment tasks below.
Assessment Description - This assessment requires the learner to:
- Determine requirements and develop CSS.
- Use advanced CSS techniques to create web pages.
- Ensure web page and CSS are validated and tested in all major browsers.
To demonstrate your competence in this task, you are required to:
- Obtain and analyse user requirements for style.
- Develop CSS to match user requirements.
- Style the elements of a web page, using advanced CSS techniques.
- Position the document elements, using advanced CSS.
- Apply the style sheets to multiple pages in a website.
Assessment Instructions - To accomplish this assessment, follow the instructions below: Download from Moodle and unzip Latoya_Webpage Netbeans project. Open Latoya_Webpage project in NetBeans and run this.
Part A:
1. Create the stylesheet as stated in DD_Latoya_Website.pdf. The file name of the stylesheet is: a1site.css. Once the stylesheet complies with the user requirements, then the student may submit the stylesheet only.
Part B:
1. Validate CSS against industry standards.
2. Test the website in various browsers.
3. Rectify browser differences to ensure that the website is accessible.
Rules: For best results, DO NOT MODIFY the HTML code and other objects such as images in the Latoya_Webpage. There will be no marks awarded/deducted for any changes in HTML code. The stylesheet to be submitted must change style of the UNMODIFIED HTML WEBPAGES based on the user requirements.
Key Requirements - The CSS document must be able to meet the following key requirements:
- The style and format should be according to user requirements.
- Test the web pages in the following browser: Internet explorer and Google Chrome.
- Validate CSS against industry standards.
Assessment Task 2 -
Assessment Description - In this assessment, the learner is required to answer theoretical questions regarding CSS concepts such as principles of website design and Cascading Style Sheet rules.
Assessment Instructions - To demonstrate your competence in this task, you are required to answer the following questions:
1. Explain the principles of website design.
2. Provide a brief description on the following terms and explain their application to CSS:
