1. While democracy can be sustained with low participation levels, it is a much less representative and less resilient form of government. Less voting can lead to policies or decisions that the majority does not prefer. Voters could participate when there is intensive civic education and improvement of voting systems. Thus, even in such scenarios, it becomes possible for democratic institutions to exist and operate, including those of checks and balances. Low voter turnout in America is due to various factors: voter indifference, complications regarding voting and casting votes, few close battles, and inadequate law-related teachings. The election system in America is a major disaster because many people consider their votes useless or are disappointed with the existing system. Examples include dictates such as voter ID, which may suppress the vote or short polling hours. They believed that the enhancement of access and education levels could lead to increased turnout.
2. Major factors that determine public opinion include the media. Additional analysis revealed that past personal experiences, family background, and education levels significantly influenced the subjects' political beliefs. Ethnicity and religious beliefs were known to influence the political leanings of a people to a great extent. These aspects form a system of political choices' interactions that is rather diverse in terms of subjects.
3. The challenging aspect of credibility in the media has been prevalent today due to factors such as 'fake news' and social media. However, any reputable news outlet is still available, and there is a lot of fake news widely distributed all over the internet. The two assets, critical thinking, and media literacy, are crucial in the analysis of candidates and the political system. While platforms that question the authenticity of information and comprehensively cover all kinds of news can assist in avoiding fake news, it is up to a person himself or herself to check the data.
