A plant has a contract to produce two types of products of M and N for the three months of January, February and March. The demand for products M and N over the three aforementioned months is given below. Demand for products M and N for January through March January February March Demand for product M 400 500 850 Demand for product N 560 580 650 The total production capacity (in hours) varies monthly. The maximum available capacity in hours is 4000, 3500 and 2500 for the month of January, February and March, respectively. The production rates in units per hour are 0.5 and 1 for products M and N, respectively. The demand of both products in all months should be met. This plant has the option of producing more number of units of each item and keep them in inventory for future months’ usage. The cost of storage per unit per month is $2.5 and $1.5 for products M and N, respectively. The unit production costs for products M and N are $23 and $20, respectively.
