You have been assigned to design a heat exchanger to cool a gaseous process stream in a chemical plant. The stream flow at 20 kg/s and enters at 431 oK, It has a heat capacity of 3.45 J/g-oC , and needs to be cooled to 402 oK. Cooling water is available at 25 oC and has a specified maximum temperature of 50 oC. The overall heat transfer coefficient is 570 W/m2-oK . How much area must the heat exchanger have?
