A police car parked in a 45 mi/h speed zone observes a passing car traveling at a slow, constant speed. The officer believes the driver is intoxicated and begins accelerating uniformly to 50 mi/h in 8 seconds and maintains a constant velocity of 60 mi/hr, overtakes the motorist 42 seconds after he passed the officer. 18 seconds passed before the officer pursued the car. Determine: distance the officer traveled before overtaking the motorist and the speed of the motorist.
