The conclusion was based on a telephone poll of 500 men and 500 women. One quote in the article was "men are much more likely to stick with a losing investment than women (47 percent to 35 percent)."

a. Assuming that there was no preconceived idea of whether men or women would be more likely to stick with a losing investment, state the null and alternative hypotheses for testing whether the population proportions of men and women who would stick with a losing investment differ.

b. Carry out the remaining steps to test the hypotheses that you stated in part (a).
