Assignment - Starting a small business

Aim of assessment: This unit aims to provide learners with the skills needed to start a small business. The learner will be able to present the initial business idea, understand the skills and development needed to run the business and will know the legal and financial aspects that will affect the start-up of the business.

Vocational Scenario - You are working in a small educational establishment as Assistant Project Officer.They want to start a sister establishment in another area and you are asked to prepare relevant documents used in the feasibility study of that new business.

Based upon the above scenario please attempt the following tasks -

Task 1 - Write report on the following

a) Report the initial business idea using relevant criteria.

b) Explain how to identify the target market.

Task 2 - Continuing with the scenario prepare documentation for the following tasks. Use specific examples/scenarios

a) Describe the skills needed to run the business successfully

b) Identify areas that may require personal development (your skills analysis in relation to task 2.1)

Task 3 - For this task you need to prepare a report based upon above tasks

a) Describe the legal and financial aspects that will affect the start-up of the business.

Task 4 - Prepare a formal proposal for below task based upon the information you collected for above tasks.

a) Produce a proposal containing the essential information for the start-up of a business.
