Suppose at the end of the 4-mile section of Highway I70, there is a toll booth. All cars that pass through have to pay. Now this can be viewed as a service system. In addition to processing payments, the server at the toll booth is occasionally asked to inspect the type of cars passing as well.

1. How would you describe the queuing system (single or multi-channel? single or multi-phase? Does the line length have infinite or limited capacity?)

2. A long line in front of the toll booth will create terrible traffic. Please propose at least two ways to manage the queue.

3. On the first week of December, the server randomly selected 4 days to inspect the cars passing through. On each day, he inspected 50 cars and recorded the number of sports car that passed by. If sports car is deemed “defective”, what type of quality control charts would you construct? How many samples were there? What was the sample size?
