Discussion Board Question1 ( Related to the project)

In your role as project manager for the PROVISION Healthcare Technologies project, you report to the Director of Product Development, Terry Smith. Terry has forwarded you a few emails about the project and asked you to schedule an overview meeting with the project stakeholders.

Describe who you will invite to the meeting. Be sure to identify the stakeholders of the project, provide your rationale for selecting each role, and describe any potential conflicts that may arise as the organizational system of the company conflicts with the needs of the project.

Project Part 2: 1 Page Project Charter

Now that the stakeholders have been identified, you are getting ready for the overview meeting. Terry has asked you to present the project charter for discussion with the group. Continue work on the project plan by analyzing all of the inputs and creating a project charter and description of approach.

Be sure to identify the drivers of the project, as well as the ways in which the project will be considered a success. Make any changes to the project plan that are needed based on this new information. This should be a 1-page project charter section of your project plan

Discussion Board Question 2 (related to project)

You are developing the scope statement for the project, and now you are up to the marketing deliverables. You have met with the director of Sales and Marketing and have a general sense of what marketing will be needed to effectively launch the upgraded product.

There will be a series of newsletters sent to the global customer base announcing the upgraded product. There will also be advertisements in the "usual" publications that will highlight the new features. The marketing team will attend an annual trade show and feature the upgraded product.

Other marketing activities, such as updated collateral and press releases, are yet to be determined.

You have a follow-up meeting with the director next week. At that time, you will review a detailed write-up of the scope that describes what is included, as well as what is excluded.

1. Describe each of the key deliverables in detail. Be sure to include what is included in the scope of the deliverable as well as what is not included in the scope.

2. Describe how you and the director will determine whether or not other marketing activities will be brought into the scope of the project. Finally, describe how you will gain consensus from the director on the scope..

Project Part 3

You are preparing for a scoping meeting with the project stakeholders and other key subject-matter experts. During this meeting, you will review the detailed requirements and identify any remaining open areas.

You will also review the scope management system you will use and obtain their consensus. Continue work on the project plan by documenting the scope management system that will be used on the project (2 pages, include a decision tree/flow chart).

Describe the request review turn-around time and define the approvals needed (3 - 4 paragraphs).

Develop the form (1 page) that will be used to capture change requests and the log (1 page) that will be used by the project manager to record status of each request.

Include a section that describes how the scope of the project will be confirmed when you are ready to close the project (1 page).

Discussion Board 3(related to project)

You have a meeting next week with the Sales and Marketing director to determine the marketing people that will be on your project team.

They will focus on completing the marketing campaign deliverables (advertising, customer newsletter, trade show) to prepare for the upgraded product launch. In preparation for the meeting, you are writing up job descriptions for the key roles you need filled.

Based on your understanding of the marketing deliverables and typical roles,

1. list the marketing-related roles you need filled. Also describe one of the marketing roles in more detail.

2. Craft a high-level job description that identifies the activities that will be completed, the skills required, and the level of supervision needed.

3. Finally, explain the ethical and legal expectations and standards both of the product and marketing personnel assigned to this project.

Project Part 4

You are preparing the project budget and schedule for review with your manager. Next week's meeting will focus on the budget and schedule for the marketing campaign deliverables of the project.

Document the budget cost components for the marketing-related deliverables. Identify and describe the items that will be included in the budget and how those items will be tracked. Refer to PM-BOK and the Web resources for details on what to include. Please add your file.

Individually, continue work on the project plan by developing the work breakdown structure for the marketing-related deliverables. For each deliverable, list the following:

• Activities that must be completed.

• Order in which they must be completed.

• Dependencies between activities.

• Considerations for duration.

• Considerations for assigning resources to the activity.

Identify any milestones and describe your rationale for why they are milestones. Refer to PM-BOK and the Web resources for definitions and additional details. The result should be a list in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Project. Please add your file.

Discussion Board Question 5 (related to the project)

You and your manager reviewed the change management system you defined for the project. Your manager does not think it is really necessary because "a good project management plan will not have any changes. The scope is set, the dates are set, and the budgets are set. A good project manager will just make sure everything goes according to plan."

Go to the discussion board and describe how you would respond to your manager's comments. State whether or not you agree with the statement and why. If you agree, describe how you will make sure that everything goes according to plan. If you don't agree, write at least one paragraph that describes how you will get your manager to agree with changes when they occur.

PROJECT Part 5

You have completed the project planning activities and are now ready to share the results with the project team. You have scheduled a project kick-off meeting in two weeks and are now preparing your materials.

1. Develop a 10 - 15 slide presentation that you will use for the kick-off meeting. In the presentation, identify the participants of the meeting, the objectives of the meeting, the meeting agenda, and the project's objectives.

2. Use the remaining slides to share key results from your project planning activities, such as the scope control system and the communication mechanisms that will be used.

In the communication plan, identify the audiences that must be reached. For each audience, describe the communication mechanism, the frequency of communication, the format, other involved parties, and associated responsibilities.

Be sure your presentation meets the standards for an effective presentation that you have learned in other courses.
