Assignment:

Part 1: Planning Your Future

Think about a career in business, marketing, and finance that interests you. For this activity, you will make a career plan. Assume that you have graduated high school and are applying to colleges. Include the following in your plan:

  • Where you will go to college and your program of study, and explain why you chose this program. Include a link to a webpage that describes your major.
  • Imagine that you did an internship while in college. Search the internet for internship opportunities in your area, and describe one that you think will be useful. Include a link to a description of the internship.
  • Describe three levels of jobs in your chosen career. Use a job board such as Indeed.com to find examples of an entry level and two other levels of position. Remember, a lateral move to a larger company might be a solid career move. Briefly describe how the job contributes to your career goals and include a link to the job.

Part 2: Portfolio Instructions

You have put a lot of thought into creating a business, so it is time to assemble all of the pieces you have been working on into a final portfolio.

Take a moment to review the activities you have completed for this course. In many cases, you now know more about business, finance, and marketing then you did when you completed those activities. If there are activities that you did not do well on and would like to improve, you now have the opportunity to do so. Or perhaps your business has evolved a bit and some of the earlier activities do not quite match your final vision. Take the time to make any revisions that you need to before turning in the final portfolio. This should be a polished collection that demonstrates your mastery of business, marketing, and finance.
