Discussion Post: Advanced Research Methods & Health Informatics
After reading Chapter 2 of our text, compose a PICO-format clinical question related to your topic of choice (practice problem) for your Synthesis I and II Papers and Synthesis III Presentation.
The PICO question should identify population (P), intervention (I), comparison (C), intervention (I), and outcome (O). You will likely not have a T for these assignments - timing, as you are describing an evidence-based practice intervention rather than setting up research.
Briefly describe each section of your PICO question.
Population/Problem
Describe the population by age, gender, diagnosis, personal habit, procedure, etc. Remember that this is the population that most closely matches the population where you would conduct your EBP change but not so specifically like that population that you cannot find that population in the scientific literature related to your problem and intervention.
Intervention
Describe the intervention being investigated as a possible means to achieve the outcome. Be thorough and include citations that support this intervention for your selected practice problem.
Comparison
Describe the comparison. If the comparison is the usual treatment, describe what that usual treatment is and include citations to support that it is the usual treatment.
Outcome
Describe the outcome. It should be measurable since you will need to describe how you are going to measure it in your evaluation plan. If you know of a tool to measure the outcome, briefly describe it here. Again, citations are necessary. Get the instant assignment help.
Purpose:
The purpose of the threaded discussion is to promote dialogue among students and faculty during the course.
Requirements:
The student must provide the initial substantive response to the discussion question/topic(s) posted by the course faculty by Friday of those weeks with a discussion board assignment.
The student must also provide a minimum of two additional responses to two student colleagues on two different days by Tuesday of those weeks with a discussion board assignment. Responses must be scholarly and advance the dialogue, not simply providing agreement with each other. This should be substantive feedback to a student colleague's response to the question/topic posted by the course faculty. All responses must be respectful and thoughtful.
