Task

For each blog post, there is a Nominated Article in the Study and Tutorials guide (Refer to the Additional Readings section of the guide). You will write a reflective blog post after reading how this article has helped you to learn the week's topic.

Use the following titles when creating your blogs. For example, the blog title for Module 2 will be Organisational Design and the blog title for Module 6 will be Design for Process Management and so forth. It is very important that you use the correct titles for your blog posts otherwise BIM (explained later) does not automatically pick up your post for marking. It is advisable to copy the titles from the list below and paste them in your blog. Copy the title only (the part in 'red' not the rest)

Blog format

You will write your blog post in the format as described below.

  • Synopsis - this is a summary of the content of the article (should be objective);
  • Critique - how well you think the author or authors address the article topic (should be objective);
  • Your reflection - how you think the article has assisted you in understanding the weekly course topic (can be subjective as you are discussing your own learning).

It is advisable to structure your blog post in three paragraphs: Synopsis, Critique and Reflection.

Objectives

This assessment item relates to the following course learning outcomes:

Define and describe the concepts of workflow business process improvement in organisations, and their applicability to workflow.

Employ analytical tools for modelling, analysing and designing business processes

Evaluate the various methods, tools and techniques used for process identification, modelling and redesign.

Apply appropriate methods, tools and techniques to model and interpret 'as-is' and 'to-be' process models.

 Identify organisational change issues that may arise owing to the implementation of new business processes.

The purpose of this assessment is for you to develop a portfolio of your thinking and work around the discipline of workflow analysis and modelling. Furthermore, you can retain your portfolio for use as a reference tool in future courses.
