Questions that I am asking while evaluating your report. Your report does not need to address these questions in this particular order. But, hopefully, it will address several or all of these issues.

1. What did the student learn?

a. Technology-wise: new (to the student) technology did she/he use.

2. Was the appropriate technology chosen?

a. Write a brief related-work section to show that you did the research and made the right technological choice. Justify why your choice is the best option for your problem given your knowledge and the problem that you are trying to solve.

3. What is the use of the project?

a. That is, what real-life problem is it trying to solve.
b. Why is it interesting? Applications, motivation.

4. Description of the work done.

a. Methods outlined so that I can understand and reproduce if needed what you did.

i. Don't need to copy/reproduce descriptions of existing methods. Pointers are okay.

5. Experiments.

a. How do I know that your method works?

i. Describe clearly the datasets used, the results observed, and the conclusions you can draw from them.

1. Are the datasets reasonably big and diverse such that the conclusions are general?

a. If not, state what the impediments are to doing having such datasets.

2. Did you play around with the parameters and settings to identify how robust your methods are, how long it takes to run, etc.

a. Report these.

6. Is the amount of work done commensurate with a term project involving however many people were in your group (accounting for people who dropped out, etc.)?

a. Tell me all you did including failures and things that you tried that did not work. Sometimes the failures take a lot of time. One of the objectives of this report is to understand what you have been doing throughout the semester.
