Go the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) Morbidity Tables. Choose a disease of your choice from the tables (DO NOT REPEAT A PREVIOUSLY USED DISEASE). Click on the disease and a table will appear.
At the top, it will give statistics for the entire U.S. population and the table further breaks down cases into regions and state by state. Compare the cumulative cases for this year and last year. Are the number of cases increasing, decreasing, or remaining the same?
What region makes up the most number of cases? Research and determine why this region has higher cases than the others. Discuss if it is one state in particular.
