Aim

To demonstrate the understanding of cement materials and identify characteristics, properties, specification and main applications of different types cement

Objective

• To demonstrate the understanding of the composition, properties, performance and application of different types of cement.

• To demonstrate the understanding of the common specifications associated with these materials and application.

Expected Task:

Cement has an extensive use in a wide range of construction especially in structures where high strength is required and in structures exposed to the action of water.

Generally, cements are adhesive and cohesive materials capable to bond together particles of solid matter into a compact durable mass. Based on the chemical composition, cements used in construction industry can be classified in to different types.

On the light of the above statement, prepare a report on a cement industry addressing the importance of cement as sustainable building materials.

Your report should include the different types of cement, their specifications and application, uses of cement as construction materials, their availability, cost and quality.

Students are advised to search through different sources such as websites, journals, books, etc. to complete this task successfully.

Submission requirement:

1. Prepare a detailed table for the available different types of cements in the market along with their specifications.

2. Write a report with a detailed description of cement industry including

a. Different types of tests conducted in site or field on cement

b. Sustainability of various types of cement

c. Source, properties and different applications of cement

d. Function and limits of each of them
