Discussion 1
1. Definitively theory of constraints is a management example that views any manageable system as being limited in achieving more of its goals by a very small amount of constraints. It is about identifying the most essential limiting factor that could stand in the way of achieving a goal. With emphasis on profit improvement this is a key component for a business. There are quite a few business that use the TOC methodology. For this discussion I chose to post about Nike and their use of the theory of constraints method. Nike's lean manufacturing is a successful example of how a company has managed to set parameters for a manageable systematic goal for small constraints. Nike has an extensive reputation and has close to 800 factories across a few countries. The company has been criticized by its lack of oversight in manufacturing. The after approach of seeing their errors provided the company an opportunity to innovate. Nike has two overreaching goals in their strategy. One being to make today and better and the second to design for the future. This where lean begins to connect. To provide a immaculate source of quality assurance the company had to do factory outsourcing, which brings a massive improvement to the company. Nike has increased its requirements and ensures they consult and help their partners. In order to achieve excellence continuously Nike attributes lean manufacturing to included as a part of the solution for them.
2. Theory of constraints (TOC) is a problem-solving approach which is focused in the application to reduce cost by eliminating waste and inconsistency in a process or system. It improves the efforts in operational process and performance of a system as a whole. As a program manager, managing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for information systems can be challenging. Managing a diverse team, a Project/Program Manager must have a plan to appropriately approach each task and ensures that cost, schedule, and performance is used effectively and efficiently to meet our goals. Usually are efforts involves a planned end date by Cybersecurity leadership, who mandates our authority to operate with conditions that must be met by a set deadline. If those conditions are not met, it will put out programs risk, and will cause our system to decommission from the organization network. The impact of that will cause thousands of users and various training facilities to be inoperable. When challenges come before the team, it usually involves inconsistency of work performance and the prioritization of work that needs to be done. Thus, in order to meet our end goal, we address the issue, analyze and identify solutions, decide on an effective decision that will support our changes for the benefit of our team and our systems. Our-problem solving approach to impediments has become stronger as a team, when coming together and agreeing on a solution that is most productive and effective for the team, and the systems.
