Basic Requirements
This paper will be a discussion of PID control. The goal of the paper will be to give an overview of PID control loops and tuning methods. As this paper is extra credit, the expectations for content and quality are high. If the paper does not meet criteria for at least C (>70%) level work, a zero will be assigned and it will not be factored into your grade.
Content
At minimum, the paper should include the following content:
• A definition of the PID algorithm
• A practical discussion of the function of each of the three terms (proportional, integral, derivative)
• An explanation of the affects that changing each of the three tuning constants has on the resulting control response
• A procedure for the following tuning methods:
o Manual Tuning
o Ziegler Nichols closed loop Tuning
o Lambda Tuning
Research
Plagiarism will not be tolerated for this assignment and any plagiarism detected (intentional or otherwise) will result in a zero score on the paper and may result in additional penalties. Some forms of plagiarism include duplicating others' work, improperly citing research (even if the research is paraphrased rather than directly quoted), and reproducing images or figures without citation.
All research should be cited in-text with a works cited page using APA format. The following URLs may be useful for guidance in APA format.

Format
The paper should be double spaced in a 12 point Times New Roman Font with one inch margins. The paper should be a minimum length of four pages and should have at least five cited sources. The title page (if applicable), images contained within the document, and works cited page do not count towards the minimum page length.
