Employees, managers and other organisational stakeholders are experiencing considerable uncertainty due to the emergence of the Delta variant of Covid-19. With this development in mind, explain why it is difficult to make accurate predictions about the future under conditions of uncertainty. Then discuss the ethical problems that arise when - in a state of uncertainty - a member of a profession or an opinion leader (e.g. a CEO, an economic forecaster, a politician, or a journalist) makes predictions about the course of the Covid-19 pandemic that can have a detrimental effect on other people. Give examples from the media commentary on the pandemic. To what extent, if at all, can symmetrical ethics overcome these ethical problems?
