Liptor, Bile Salts and Cholesterol
For lipitor, bile salt, and cholesterol and with knowledge of intermolecular forces, expalin the following:
a. Which of the three will dissolve in blood and why?
b. LDL (bad cholsterol) stands for Low Density Lipoprotein - that is- chlosterol (lipid) surrounded by protein. HDL (good cholosterol) stands for High Density Lipoprotein. What role would you expect the protein to play in relation to the cholosterol molecule? (amines, amides, and carboxylic acids are parts of proteins, think of their properties)
c. Lipitor blocks production of chlosterl in the liver. In addition to this reduction of the serum level of cholsterol, HDL acts to remove LDL from the bloodstream. How might this occur?
The density of water decreases from 1.000g/mL at 3.98°C to 0.9170g/mL as ice at 0°C. By what volume (in mL) would a 2.632 liter flexible plastic bottle increase.

If a 484 mL sample of gas at 232 °C is allowed to expand (at constant pressure) to a volume of 494 mL, what will be the new temperature (in °C).
Oxalic acid, H2C2O4 has acid dissociation constants Ka1 = 5.9 x 102 and Ka2 = 6.4 x 105. What is the pH after 20.00 mL of 0.0500 M NaOH is added to 5.00 mL of 0.2000 M H2SO3.
The half-life of nuclium is 12.3 years. If 49.0 mg of nuclium is released from a nuclear power plant during the course of a mishap, what mass of the nuclide will remain after 98.4 years.
How much ice(in grams) would have to melt to lower the temperature 352ml of water from 25degrees celcus to 5 degrees celcus? ( assume the density of water is 1.0g/ml)
If the temperature in the laboratory is 22.3oC and the atmospheric pressure is 0.931 atm, what volume would be occupied by the carbon dioxide produced in this reaction (in cm3)?
Find the empirical formulas for compounds with the following compositions: a. 8.74% magnesium, 91.26% iodine b. 36.86% nitrogen, 63.14% oxygen
