In computing the theoretical yield of alum, it is presumed that all of the aluminum is converted to alum---aluminum is the limiting reactant. Carry out the subsequent calculations to determine if this is a valid assumption.

1) Define how many ml of water density 1.0 g/ml are needed to supply the water in the alum formed from 1.1g of aluminum?

2) A student used 1.1056g of scrap aluminum and initially isolated 11.3588g of alum. Explain what was the percent yield?

3) Explain having some extra time the student decided to evaporate the meaning solution further to obtain another crop of crystals. Define an additional 3.8312g of alum was collected. Compute the total percent yield.
