Aspirin's mode of action is to make a covalent bond with the active site of the COX II enzyme which inactivates the enzyme. A nucleophilic histidine side chain (1H-imidazolide) in the enzyme's active site forms an amide bond by acting with ester functionality on aspirin. Draw a complete, step-wise curved arrow mechanism for how this action occurs.
