MIS3100 - DATABASE MANAGEMENT INDIVIDUAL PROJECT DEFINITION 2015-2016 Bhuiya PERSONAL PICTURE DATABASE You love to take pictures. However, with digital technology, instead of taking one or two pictures, you take hundreds. You have been collecting and editing the pictures on your computer for a number of years. You have decided that you need to more easily find specific pictures in your current collection and to index / record new pictures as they are taken and added to your collection. You decide to use a personal database (like MS Access) to develop a system to meet your needs. The minimum required information you want in the data base includes: Picture Set: This is the set of pictures in which a specific picture is found. For example, if you take a vacation, you want to be able to define a picture as being part of the vacation. Picture ID or sequence number: This uniquely identifies this picture both inside the set and along with the picture set as a stand-alone picture. Picture Content: One to ten content index words relating to this picture. For Example: If you took pictures of Aunt Mary at Riverfest at Headwaters Park than you would want to record index points for Aunt Mary, Headwaters Park, and Riverfest. Date picture was taken. Add at least 3 additional fields to this database (other than those above) that will enhance your version of the application. For example, you may have multiple cameras or multiple picture takers and want to keep that information as well. You decide that you will need, at minimum, the following specific procedures for handling the photos: ? An input form/procedure for recording new pictures as they are taken. ? A report by Picture set to help identify all the pictures taken on a specific trip or about a specific event. ? A report by subject so you can find information about a subject like Aunt Mary. MIS3100 - DATABASE MANAGEMENT INDIVIDUAL PROJECT DEFINITION 2015-2016 Bhuiya The project is to be completed and posted to Blackboard by 11:59 PM of the FRIDAY of the final week of our class. You must include the data element name, type of data (alpha, numeric, picture, etc.), size of the field (maximum number of characters to be set aside to store the field, if appropriate), and the relationship of this field to other fields in the database. c. A scheme for labeling each picture as it is stored on the disk (what is the file name of the picture) d. A scheme for recording the sets of pictures with information about what is on that set of pictures. e. Develop a database design including and E-R Schema.
