Assessment Description
In groups of 4 to 5 class members (no more than 5 members) you are to perform a number of data management, analysis and visualisation tasks using your BI (Business Intelligence) tool of choice.
All students will need to have access to a laptop or a desktop computer in order to contribute to this task. Student will need to have downloaded and installed a BI tool of their choice.
Your group will be asked to address the business question below with reference to the data provided and software of your choice.
Form groups of 4-5 before class
Business Question: You are a Senior Analytics team tasked with providing the government with a review of baby food nutrition.
You have been tasked with describing the best and worst foods based on a definition of your choice. You have been provided with a dataset that contains the nutrient information for several food products. Hire best assignment help and experienced tutors now!
Data: The data files (data and fields) will be provided by your lecturer at the commencement of the class.
Software: Your team's choice of Power BI or Tableau
Each group needs to ensure they bring at least one laptop to the class in Week 12 and have access to a data visualisation software
Assessment Overview
Part A: Data Management
Instructions:
The data file will be provided by your lecturer at the commencement of the class.
The data relates to nutrition of a range of baby foods. Suppose that you are part of an Analytics team working for a government agency tasked with analysing how baby food could be beneficial or harmful to infants.
You have been given data on the nutritional components (e.g. sugar, fat, protein etc...) of various foods. You wish to determine which is "best" and "worst" foods to feed to a baby. The definition of "best" is for your group to explain and analyse.
Business problem and definition: Explain the analytics process steps you will follow to assist the nutrition of the food in the sample. This includes what is the key business problem you are undertaking and what is your definition of "best" and "worst" food based on the nutritional data and independent research.
Data Dictionary: Review the data file that you have been provided. Create a data dictionary
Data Security: Explain how you will back up the data and keep it secure throughout the data management process. What challenges are associated with this?
Part B: Data Analysis and Recommendations
Data discover and initial analysis
Create at least four visualisations will help in the definition and recommendation of your business problem which includes your definition of "best" food.
For each visualization, show different nutrition-based aspects of the products and produce an insight describing what is being shown.
Explain which visualization you think is the most effective in addressing the business question above and why?
Data Preparation
With reference to two visuals produced in Part 1, filter out some products at the extreme ends and produce an insight describing what is being shown. For example, food with low levels of protein or those with high level of sugar.
Model building
Provide summary statistics for at least 3 variables in the data set to assist with your business problem
Why did you choose these variables to analyse and what is the impact on your business problem.
Communication
Develop 4 to 5 visualisations that tell a story about the insights you have gained or expected to gain from your analytics exercise. These visualisations should include both observation and commentary on key insights.
Summary and Recommendation, as part of operationalising your findings
Summarise your analysis and recommend which products are the best based on your criteria. Justify your answers with clear reference to the data analysis you have performed in the previous sections. Your answers will provide the government with a classification for baby foods which are healthier.
