Currently, former president Donald J Trump is facing ninety-one criminal counts in four different criminal cases. His trials are set to begin in 2024. During the first Republican presidential debate, on August 23, one of the moderators asked the panel of candidates if they would still support Donald Trump as their party's choice even if he were convicted in a court of law. Only two out of the eight candidates did not raise their hands in support of Trump. In spite of such support for Trump, there is a growing movement in different states to remove him from the presidential ballot according to the Disqualification Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. According to the lawsuits that have and will be filed to keep Trump off states' ballots, he is not fit to run for office as a result of his role in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
