The Park Doctrine grants access to hold corporate officers liable for any criminal activity performed by their subordinates that occurs under their management. The doctrine can hold various managers in line of authority criminally responsible for any criminal activity that occurs on their watch even if they were unaware of the criminal activity. This doctrine is controversial because unlike the principles of criminal law that require proof of intent or awareness of wrongdoing, it allows individuals in a manager or executive position to be prosecuted for the criminal offenses of other employees given that they had the obligation and authority to stop or rectify the violation or prevent it from occurring but failed to do so. I can agree with the argument that as a direct manager of your employees, there is a duty to supervise, manage, direct, and provide support to your team. Therefore, if any acts occur under your watch that you were not aware of and still occur, this shows that you have failed that duty and should face the consequences. However, I can also agree that if in good faith and managers made general efforts for their employees and truly were not aware of any involvement.
