Acme Corporation is implementing a new time and attendance system (TAS). The system will capture employee time worked and feed the information to payroll.
The software cost $5,000 for the server application, and $150 for each PC that will be used to capture TAS information. Tech support will install the server application on an existing server. The company needs to buy one PC for each department and systems analysts will install the PC application after the support gets the PCs installed. The company has 30 employees spread across 4 departments. The departments have 5 to 10 employees each. The company would like to pilot the system in one department, then make any recommended changes before rolling it out to the whole company. The company will have to install and test the system and then develop training materials. Each employee will be issued a new badge for use with the system ($25 each) and attend a one-hour training sessions; about 5 sessions will be needed to train the employees. They will also need to write and test a program to take the information from TAS and feed it to the payroll system. The company hopes to improve time reporting accuracy and reduce the labor needed to process time and attendance with the new system.
