Problem: Management
In the last activity you practiced "Job targeting" by establishing your career pathway's starting point. This is essential to know as you initiate your post-graduate career launch. By focusing onto just one [or a very few] specific job target(s), you can direct your job search more effectively. Knowing what you want to do creates a strong message you can publicize on your resume, social media, and throughout your professional network.
For this activity, you are going to search for [at least] three jobs that align with your current job target goal. Use various job boards, but also research companies of interest [be aware that many jobs aren't even placed onto job boards]. You should also activate your network list to see if anyone knows of an existing position.
Once you find three viable positions, create a tracking chart where you can record all potential jobs. There are several options for "Job Search Trackers" online, or you can create your own. Key information includes columns for the position title, the company, and what actions you are taking. You will also want to include space to track valuable contacts affilitated with the position and have space for follow-up measures. Submit your saved document in the box below.
For this activity, you are required to submit a minimum of three entries, however, this is a tool you should be using throughout the semester as you continue your job search. You will provide this document as part of your Career Coach Meeting; so be prepared to discuss your job search successess and ongoing efforts.
