Please answer the following items:

A. Analyze the data using SPSS. If it is necessary to perform a post hoc comparison, do so. Calculate and report effect size.

B. In APA style, write the results for the outcome of the statistical analyses performed in step A. Make sure to interpret your findings.

Problem # 2:

A habituation task is often used to test memory for infants.  In the habituation process, a stimulus is shown to the infant for a brief period, and the researcher records how much time the infant spends looking at the stimulus.  This same process is repeated again and again.  If the infant begins to lose interest in the stimulus (decreases the time looking at it), the researcher can conclude that the infant "remembers" the earlier presentations and is demonstrating habituation to an old familiar stimulus.  The data shown below represent the amount of time (in seconds) attending to the stimulus.

Problem # 3:

Nisbett & Cohen (1996) studied regional differences in aggressive behavior. They hypothesized that Southerners come from a culture of honor, and that when provoked, they will respond aggressively, compared to Northerners. In their experiment, participants were either insulted (bumped and called an "asshole"), or experienced no insult at all. After the insult (or no insult in control condition), participants encountered a large football player walking swiftly toward them down a narrow hallway. Nisbett and Cohen measured the distance at which the subject veered off course to allow the football player through-in essence, they were having their subjects perform a game of chicken!

Below is the data from their study. Please complete the following:

A. Analyze the data using SPSS. If it is necessary to perform simple main effects, do so. Calculate and report effect sizes.

B. In APA style, write a Results section describing the outcome of the statistical analyses performed in step A.

C. Create a bar graph to display the group means for all 4 groups in either Excel or SPSS.

D. Create a table reporting the results of the ANOVA

D. Write a separate Discussion section explaining the results that you obtained.

Notes:

Post to canvas THREE files:

• A Word document with all necessary text, Tables, and bar graphs.
• An SPSS output with all necessary results.
• The SPSS data file you created.
