The question has three clearly described parts:
1) Critically explain the four specific criteria managers can use to decide which of their firm's capabilities have the potential to create a sustainable competitive advantage.
2) In your answer you should define resources, capabilities, core competencies and the concept of sustainable competitive advantage.
3) You should include references to current academic strategic management journals and examples of competing firms."
To achieve a pass for the item all three parts of the question must be answered.
1) The four criteria of sustainable competitive advantage must be identified and defined. These four criteria are critical to strategic management and you must demonstrate a working knowledge.
2) As part of identifying the four criteria of sustainable competitive advantage you must demonstrate a knowledge of resources, capabilities, core competencies and the concept of sustainable competitive advantage.
a) This completes the student's demonstration of the body of knowledge.
3) For your response to be valid it must demonstrate research into the body of knowledge. This means you must reference current journal articles that discuss the four criteria of competitive advantage.
a) You must also demonstrate the authenticity of your research by demonstrating how it is applied to competing firms.
