Assessment - Inferential data analysis
INSTRUCTIONS
You have been asked to work with the other interns at the council as your group, with the council of an Industrial Zone.
The Mayor of the council has now asked your manager for some inferential statistics on the businesses in the council area.
You have several tasks both as a group and individually. Please read these instructions very carefully.
STAGE 00: GROUP SIMPLE RANDOM SAMPLE
AS A GROUP, for i) - iv) using ONLY 1 DEVICE:
i) Using the POPULATION sheet, take a RANDOM SAMPLE OF SIZE n = 30 USING SIMPLE RANDOM SAMPLING METHOD with a RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR.
ii) Take a copy of the output from YOUR RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR USE, as well as the WEB BROWSER LINK. Place in sheet labelled "n = 30 RANDOM NO. GEN. COPY" REF."
iii) Place the sheet labelled "GROUP RANDOM SAMPLE OF DATA".
iv) EMAIL THAT EXCEL FILE TO ALL GROUP MEMBERS BEFORE THE END OF THE STAM4000 WEEK 10 CLASS
PART 2
Use EXCEL with statistical tables, to create the following.
PLACE ALL YOUR STATISTICS IN CORRESPONDING SHEETS: "MY PART 2 STATS BRING TO WK 12" .
a) Create a 95% confidence interval for the mean level of noise pollution in this council. Check relevant conditions here.
b) Create a 99% confidence interval for the mean number of environmental violations (last 5 years) in this council. Check relevant conditions here. Get professional assignment help service now!
c) Create a 95% confidence interval for the proportion of new development applications last year that were rejected. Assume conditions are satisfied and do NOT need to be checked here.
PART 3
As you are ONLY USING YOUR GROUP SAMPLE OF DATA, the corresponding population standard deviations are UNKNOWN.
Assume conditions are satisfied and do NOT need to be checked here.
a) Test that the mean Electricity consumption is greater than 250000 kWh/qtr.
b) Test that the mean Water usage is less than 200000 litres/qtr
c) Test that the mean Waste generated is different to 21000 kg/qtr
PART 4
USE ONLY YOUR GROUP RANDOM SAMPLE OF DATA
Use EXCEL to create the following.
PLACE ALL YOUR STATISTICS IN CORRESPONDING SHEETS: "MY PART 4 STATS BRING TO WK 12" .
a) Create a scatterplot and a simple linear regression output with response variable of Emissions against the explanatory variable of Electricity consumption (kWh/qtr).
b) Create a scatterplot and a simple linear regression output with response variable Electricity consumption (kWh/qtr) and explanatory variable of Plot size(sqm.)
c) Create a scatterplot and a simple linear regression output with response variable Average annual revenue ($m) against explanatory variable Years in operation.
PART 5
USE ONLY YOUR GROUP RANDOM SAMPLE OF DATA
Use EXCEL to create the following. Assume the conditions of linear regression are satisfied and do NOT need to be checked here.
PLACE ALL YOUR STATISTICS IN CORRESPONDING SHEETS: "MY PART 5 STATS BRING TO WK 12" .
a) Create multiple linear regression output of the response variable Emissions (CO2 tons/yr) against the explanatory variables of Electricity consumption, (kWh/qtr), Water usage (litres/qtr), Waste generated (kg/qtr), Recycling rate (%) and Number of employees.
b) Create a multiple linear regression output of the response variable Electricity consumption(kWh/qtr) against the explanatory variables of Number of employees, Plot size (sqm.), Water usage (litres/qtr), waste generated (kg/qtr) and Years in operation.
c) Create a multiple linear regression output of the response variable Average annual revenue ($m) against the explanatory variables of Number of employees, Average age per employee (yrs), Years in operation, Average salary (000s) and Plot size (sqm.)
PART 6
FOR THIS PART, USE THE SHEET LABELLED "TIME SERIES". Set Q4 as the benchmark variable for each of the following time series regressions.
Use EXCEL to create the following.
PLACE ALL YOUR STATISTICS IN CORRESPONDING SHEETS: "MY PART 6 STATS BRING TO WK 12" .
a) Create a time series regression of the variable of Recycling %.
b) Create a time series regression of the variable of Waste generated (kg/qtr).
PART 7
USE ONLY YOUR GROUP RANDOM SAMPLE OF DATA
Use EXCEL to create the following. i) Contingency table of Observed Cell frequencies; of Expected cell frequencies iii) Baby Chi's
PLACE ALL YOUR STATISTICS IN CORRESPONDING SHEETS: "MY PART 7 STATS BRING TO WK 12" .
a) Two categorical variables of Business type and Tax incentive received last year.
b) Two categorical variables of Zoning type and New development application last year.
