The Research Project Proposal should include the following information:
A brief description of the context of the study, what is the study about and why it is needed.
What would you like to change or modify or introduce into your health or healthcare related practice?
A project rationale: Explain why you chose this topic and how it is of interest to your field of work. State your aims and research question/s.
A brief literature review: Include at least 8-10 key references that you anticipate will inform your project.
You can use the two articles from Assessment Task 1 that you have already critically appraised
Methodology: Briefly describe the approach to methodology, data collection and analysis that you intend to use. Identify the evidence you propose to collect to support your project.
Ethical considerations: Identify ethical issues that you will need to consider in conducting your research project.
Dissemination of findings: Briefly discuss how you will disseminate your findings of the study, so they may be of maximum benefit.
Timeline: Include various milestones of completion within the proposed research project.
TASK OVERVIEW
Task 2 involves creating a research project proposal, where you have the freedom to choose and develop any project for your proposal. Your objective is to utilise the foundational knowledge acquired throughout this unit to construct your project proposal. This proposal constitutes a significant portion of your assessment for this unit, contributing 60% towards your final grade. Given its substantial weight in determining your overall grade, it is crucial to initiate this task promptly. To aid you in this endeavour, Assessment Journals are appended at the conclusion of each module. These journals serve as a platform for systematically recording your responses to this task. By the end of all 8 modules, revisiting these journals will provide a foundation for completing the assessment task.
Your research project proposal is a written document that will be assessed by your unit coordinator and the teaching team. It is most important that you keep in contact with the teaching team and seek appropriate support and advice in completing the assessment should you require it. Learning Skills Advisors are also available to assist you with this writing task.
TASK PURPOSE
The purpose of Task 2 is to cultivate the essential skills of creating a research project proposal. By providing students with the freedom to select and develop any project of their choice, this task encourages the application of foundational knowledge acquired throughout the unit.
Brief Literature Review
• Select Key Sources: Identify 8-10 primary research articles that are directly relevant to your proposed study. You can include the two articles from Assessment 1.
• Synthesize Findings: Summarise the main findings, themes, and insights from these articles. Highlight how each study contributes to understanding the topic and informs your research focus.
• Establish Relevance: Clearly demonstrate the connection between the reviewed literature and your research project. Explain how the findings support or frame the objectives, hypotheses, or methodology of your proposal.
• Structure the Review: Organise the content logically, using subheadings if necessary, to present the findings thematically or in a way that builds a coherent narrative.
• Conclude Thoughtfully: Summarise the gaps in the literature or unresolved questions that your research aims to address, underscoring its significance and contribution to the field. No AI shortcuts — Get authentic assignment help from qualified, real tutors.
Methodology
Outline the research design, methods of data collection, and analytical techniques you plan to use. Describe the types of evidence you will gather, how you will gather it, and how it will support your project objectives. Ensure that the methods align with your research questions and are feasible within the scope of your study.
Ethical Considerations
Identify potential ethical issues related to your research, such as consent, confidentiality, and data protection. Discuss how you will address these issues and the ethical approvals you will need to seek.
Dissemination of Findings
Describe your plan for sharing the results of your study. Consider various platforms and formats for disseminating your findings to both academic and practitioner audiences. Include strategies for ensuring that your findings reach stakeholders who can implement change.
Timelines and Milestones
Provide a clear timeline for your research project, breaking down the process into key phases with estimated completion dates. Include milestones such as literature review completion, data collection, analysis, and presentation of findings.
