Task 1
Create a Communication Flow Map showing how information would move between the team members (e.g. director, room leader, educator or other admin staff in centre) involved.
Communication problem-solving case:
Tomorrow is excursion day for the Senior Preschool (4-5 years) group.
Because the children need to leave earlier than usual, the morning tea routine has been adjusted so that children can eat before getting ready.
Late yesterday afternoon, the Director posted the updated morning tea time and staffing plan in the Preschool Teams channel.
The update also stated that one educator from the Junior Preschool (3-4 years) room would need to accompany the senior group on the excursion. However, only ONE educator saw the Teams message.
Even though the message was posted online, the rest of the team did not see it.
What happened this morning
When the team arrived:
One educator started preparing morning tea early, following the updated plan.
Other educators continued with the usual routine, unaware of any change.
This led to confusion, mixed instructions, delays in children finishing food, and tension among staff as they rushed to organise the group for the excursion.
There was no clear agreement on:
who had the correct information,
what the new timeline was, or
how the message should have been shared across the whole team.
Your task
Create a Communication Flow Map showing how this problem should have been communicated and resolved internally.
Your map must show:
the sequence of communication
the direction (who informs whom)
how both rooms gain clarity, alignment, and shared understanding
how the update becomes shared knowledge
any tools/methods used (communication channel such as Teams + verbal handover + whiteboard + roster note)
People involved:
Director
Lead Educator / Room Leader
Room Educators
Admin (optional)
You may use:
emojis
arrows
text boxes
a simple hand-drawn map (upload photo)
a Canva/PowerPoint image
Also include a 2-3 sentence explanation of your flow.
Task 2
Visual Representation
Create a poster, infographic, or drawing that visually represents the role of critical reflection in your professional growth.
Include keywords, short descriptions, or quotes that highlight its importance.

How does reflection influence decision-making in your practice?
What tools or strategies help you reflect critically?
What are the barriers to reflection, and how do you overcome them?
