When Beryl Buck died in 1975, her will called for establishing a trust "for the benefit of the poor people of Marin County, California." The trust was valued at $7 million at the time of Buck's death. However, Marin County is a very affluent community north of San Francisco that has virtually no poor people. The probate court was faced with the challenge of determining what to do that would best represent the intent of Mrs. Buck (who apparently was not aware of either the value of the trust nor the socio-economic conditions in Marin County).
What should the court do with this will creating this trust? Give legal reasons supporting your answer.
