When a couple gets a divorce it is not as simple as just breaking up and moving on, especially if children are involved. There are a lot of things that need to be accomplished after a divorce. Some of these are deciding who gets what assets in the home, where the children are going to live, custody of the children, child support, and how the parents will coparent their children. Some of these tasks can be decided between the parents if they are on good terms and some of the other decisions will need to be decided with the help of lawyers. Lawyers can help mediate a divorce and make sure that things are equal on both sides. They are also able to ensure the children are getting the best outcomes of their situations. Some times one of the parents does not work during the marriage and the other spouse has to provide support for a certain amount of time.
