There was a conversation on Facebook recently involving an author. This author had mentioned that he had enjoyed a double feature at the movies. What the author meant was that he had paid for one movie and then saw a second movie without buying a ticket. Someone e-mailed him and pointed out that this was unethical (and illegal).

The author admitted that this was true, but then he raised the questions:

Is it unethical for someone to purchase a book and then lend or give it to someone else?

Is this different than the movie example or are they the same thing?
