Suppose that you own or manage a firm that has contracted with a buyer to supply certain goods to the buyer. You have arranged for a third party to ship the goods directly to the buyer, so you never see the goods. If you believe that the buyer is wrongfully rejecting some of the goods, do you have any recourse? Specifically, do you, as the seller, have a right to inspect those rejected goods? To find the answer to this question, read the following state statute from the Revised Code of Washington which presents Washington's equivalent of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) 2–515.Answer the following questions:

1. What does paragraph (a) say about the right of inspection? If the goods are in the possession of the buyer, may the seller inspect them?

2. Suppose that you want to have an agent (someone who works on your behalf and, in this instance, a third party to the contract) inspect the goods that are in the buyer’s possession. Does this section of the UCC permit such inspections by third parties?

3. As an economic consideration, what do you suppose are the costs of inspection?
